There are lots of ways to get involved with the
FRHS Band Boosters
Whether you can offer one hour on one Saturday of the season, or are here for all of it, we appreciate each and every one of our volunteers. Without parents, guardians, siblings, community members and alumni, our band program would literally not get off the ground. If you are interested in helping out at all during the upcoming school year, the first thing you'll need to do is get registered as a PSD volunteer. If you have never registered before, you can get signed up at the PSD volunteer page on the district website. If you are already registered as a volunteer with another PSD school, but are new to Fossil, you can log into your account here and add Fossil to your list of schools.
Below, please find a description of the major teams in our organization, as well as a contact person in case you want to get connected with that group.

Volunteer Teams
Pit CrewThis is the team that gets all the things to all the places and back to Fossil safely. If you enjoy lifting and maneuvering, own a pair of work gloves, thrive under the glow of a headlamp, excel at Tetris and would love a field level front row seat to performances, this is your crew.
We also need drivers to haul our trailers. Contact Mark for more details. |
Food CrewFood crew provides meals and snacks/desserts at our all day and overnight events. If feeding hungry teenagers makes you happy, then food crew is for you! There are opportunities to prepare food before events, set up and serve at events, and even meet the band at a rest stop on the way home from BOA to serve dinner.

PropsWe used about every skill available for props crew this year. Building, painting, lighting, welding, pushing, pulling, stretching and sewing to name a few. If you enjoy making our band directors' vision of the show come to life, then props team is for you. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn. Power tools don't hurt either.

ChaperonesThey ride the buses, they plume the shakos, they make sure kids stay hydrated, they hand out forgotten gloves at every event. Every. Single. One. They are the chaperones. If getting a behind the scenes look at what our kids are up to at any given band event brings you joy, this is your spot. Welcome.

UniformsIf getting everyone properly dressed for the season is somewhere you can shine, then the Uniforms committee is for you. From team fittings, to alterations to instructing about cleaning and maintenance, and finally to altering again after the kids grow 6" in a year, this team helps us put our best foot forward at every event.

Color GuardOur color guard is often warming up and gathering materials in spots different from the main part of the band. To ensure their safety and that their needs are met, we have volunteers that help attend to them during competitions/events. We will also be able to offer this for our percussion section next year as well.

Do you have a talent or resource that you would like to make available to the band program? We would love to hear from you! This year alone, we didn't know we needed a welder, individuals who could sew, or pick-up trucks with a 10,000 pound towing capacity until we did. Having a list of resources available to call upon is always super helpful. Use the form below to let us know what hidden talents you might have.
